Class #11 FAAF City Manifesto

FAAF City was once New York City before we, the four chemical engineers, were working on a project and accidentally poured the chemical into the only water source. People took showers and drunk water from the water source and later they were turning into birds. The people who turned into birds flew away and there were only the four chemical engineers left. The four chemical engineers decided to rename New York City to FAAF (Fabio Alexandra Aleisha Fatou) City and recreate the rules of the city and structure. We the scientist later found a cure that would change the birds back into human form but the side effect was losing there memory.

Each scientist specialized in a specific in different things that they had to teach to different groups of people.
We created a city divided into four fractions based on virtue.
Instead of money we exchanged property or something with value.
There is no social class, everyone is equal.
There are no specific religous groups.

Extra Credit : Ai Wei Wei at the Brooklyn Museum

The Ai Wei Wei exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum was very interesting. Before visiting the Museum I expected to see projects that we did not cover in class, but instead I saw everything we covered in class. Being there I realized that the video was more like background information. All of Ai's artwork shown in the video were in the exhibit as well as more videos that were recorded by Ai himself.

There were a lot of pieces that I would consider my favorite but the one that stood out to me the most was the project called "Straight". The project consisted of 73 tons of steel rebars piled and lined up in a specific order. The tons of rebar were from the schoolhouse that collapsed during the Earthquake in 2008. Ai created this piece to symbolize how the Chinese society pretended how like nothing happened, like the children who died in the schoolhouse during the earthquake, or even the many people who died during the earthquake. The artwork basically represented Ai's concern.

Some things that I thought of while observing "Straight" was how the steel bars were assembled as if was forming a passageway, or like it was imitating a river. The Straight project was placed right beside the artwork were the names of the people who died during the earthquake. It also had the audio to the names. The Ai Weiwei was a very interesting Museum and I would recommend for other students to visit it.

Class # 10

My group and I have come up with the idea of creating a city where we were the scientist and we accidently poured a chemical in to the water source that turned all the civilians into birds. The birds flew away and it was just us alone in a big city. We lived off of food and water from every grocery store because we could not use the natural water source or else we would have been turned to birds. We stay in the city to find a cure that would turn everyone back to their human form. My part of the collage was to create the visual where you can see how we survived and the lab we worked in.
If we had to come up with a few rules i would suggest being a democracy, the people should have a voice and everyone's opinion and perspective should count.

Class #9 Survival

I personally like Michael M interpretation of advancing, escaping and repairing society because he is making a bold statement. Michael M set up a parasite shelter that was over 3.5 feet, which was the limit enforced by the Giuliani administration. Its a quiet statement and it is also a public intervention because it is out in public for everyone to see and also very illegal. It also sends a messager and absolutely sends its point across.

Public Intervention

Watching cartoons gave me the idea of using candy to be apart of my public intervention. In cartoons when people wanted to retrace their footsteps they used objects to retrace their footsteps. i decided to use jelly beans to "retrace" my footsteps going down the steps in my back yard.

Class #5 HW

A way that I would demonstrate what I learned about the styles of art is that i would gather photos of every moment of my life and put it in like a time line order. I would be a collage of my life. The pictures would be in such orders that it would evolutionary. Like the picture that demonstrates how man kind evolved from monkeys and you would see each step and view how each features changed.
I would display this collage inside of my home to remind myself how I have changed physically and time flys.
