Public Intervention

Watching cartoons gave me the idea of using candy to be apart of my public intervention. In cartoons when people wanted to retrace their footsteps they used objects to retrace their footsteps. i decided to use jelly beans to "retrace" my footsteps going down the steps in my back yard.

  1. Great idea for an intervention. Your description is good but I would like a little more thoughtfulness about how this relates to the public space you're working in. How does it talk back to your back yard? Maybe this is a path you walk thousands of times year after year, so in a way this particular walk is sort of a self-portrait, is one kind of representation of you.

Or what if you were to go into a highly-trafficked public space and do it? How would the meaning be different? Imagine the footsteps of everyone who walked through Union Square in a day traced in jelly beans; what would that look like?

Also, let's get your pics viewable online. It has to do with setting viewing permission when you upload, I think...
