Blog Assignment

Lynda Benglis

The artist's process was ordering 500 pounds of paint in different colors and using vats of rubber latex and pouring them on wax and on to the floor. She did some of this on her studio floor and on other larger studio floors just to see where the paint would go and what patterns and shapes it would make.

The author is comparing her art and the process of it to women, cooking and mixing. The artist says that cooking involves mixing chemicals and tasting and art is the same way.

The final outcome is interesting because it is made up of wax, latex and dried paint, it looks like a dried up spill and it also looks like clay when it is mixed up. It is large in one area and then it becomes smaller which shows the direction of the spill.
